Frequently Asked
Questions

Why see a psychologist?

Psychologists are amongst the most extensively trained mental health professionals when it comes to assessing and treating mental health and cognitive disorders. The term psychologist is regulated across Canada and within the province of Ontario which means that only individuals who meet stringent criteria can register as psychologists. This criteria includes completion of a graduate degree (typically a doctorate), a residency, post-graduate supervised practice, and the completion of a series of licensing exams. Additionally, psychologists are required to remain current on their knowledge and clinical approaches.
